Ancestral Echoes

This body of work will explore a cultural festival in Tharaka, Eastern Kenya, that serves as a bridge between tribes, reviving ancestral practices and traditions while examining the effects of modernity on these cultures.

The theme of "construction and deconstruction" will be central, reflecting how cultural identity is built and transformed over time. This project will document the tensions between preserving heritage and adapting to contemporary realities, exploring how these tribes reconstruct their cultural practices and simultaneously deconstruct past and present narratives. Adapting to new social, political, and environmental landscapes.

The aim is to capture the beauty, struggle, and resilience of these communities during the festival.
